Front cover, Care Homes for Older People, 29th edEarlier this week, LaingBuisson published its market leading Care Homes for Older People UK market report. The report has attracted much media attention, especially relating to new data gathered by LaingBuisson showing that care home occupancy rates are not as high as previously thought. This data suggests that occupancy is currently 85% rather than around 90%. The underlying reasons for registered beds being left empty include staff shortages and other additional costs of opening extra beds.

This story was picked up by The Telegraph, Care Home Professional and LocalGov.

There was coverage also in The Daily Mail, which picked up on the differential in the fees paid by self-payers and fees paid by Councils.

Further details of the report are available here. The original press release can be viewed here.
